What We Do
Colah B Tawkin, host of Black in the Garden podcast and Tree enthusiast along with her seven and nine year old children Will travel the continental U.S. to RAISE awareness by planting at least one native female tree in every state. the goal is to restore the imbalance created by the common practice in urban forestry.
Our Mission
It’s our desire to prioritize urban spaces especially low-income neighborhoods that generally have fewer trees. We are seeking individuals and families willing to allow our organization to plant in their yard. The call to action is to raise awareness of environmental issues disproportionately affecting Black communities, to rebel against deforestation and the soil erosion crisis, and to inspire initiatives that will make a difference as exhibited by our predecessors Wangari Maathai, Jessica Nabongo, and Hellah Sidibe.
“When we plant trees, we plant the seeds of peace and the seeds of hope. we also secure the future for our children.”
— Wangari Maathai
